Responsible for the day-to-day direction of Material activity.  Supervise and lead the material purchasing, receiving, storage, expediting, and tooling functions to support company objectives and customer requirements. Ensure adequate stocking levels are being carried and that min/max levels are correct. Ensure that all materials are being received, ordered, stored, and delivered in the most efficient manner and in compliance with FAA regulations; this involves the responsibility of directing and administering Purchasing, Inventory Control, Receiving, Material Stores, and Tooling.​

Please note that this position is located in Reno.

Directs the daily activities of material personnel and responsible for defining material planning requirements, purchasing and handling of material needs

Coordinates inventory planning function with crew leads, procurement, and planning personnel on an ongoing basis to insure all material is available to achieve customer schedules

Maintains optimum inventory levels and accuracy to ensure on-time deliveries to meet customer requirements while minimizing carrying costs and premium transportation charges

Oversees the purchasing and/or contracting for materials, supplies, equipment, and services for the operation of the Service Center, in addition to all inventory items. Investigates and solves problems resulting from material shortages, however caused

Establishes and maintains purchasing practices and policies to ensure honest, fair, and ethical relationships with vendors.  Keeps informed on legal matters that affect purchasing policies

Responsible for continuing programs of exploration for new materials, suppliers, and processes to achieve the best possible quality, reliability, prices, continuity, and delivery

Keeps abreast of materials and aviation markets and pricing trends that affect Company products

Tracks tool inventory to ensure appropriate tooling is in place to service aircraft and that controls are in place to comply with regulatory requirements

Ensures that parts and tools are provided with minimum disruption to the teams working directly on aircraft

Develops, establishes, and provides for the maintenance of reporting systems that relate to the materials function

Directs the operations of the parts room to ensure the accurate and efficient receipt, storage, and disposition of parts

Oversees and monitors cycle counting of inventory to ensure accurate inventory counts

Ensures that the company standard practices and procedures are followed in connection with all materials department functions

Responsible for the motivation and development of subordinates to optimize their performance and their personal and professional growth

Performs supervisory functions such as hiring, firing, interviewing candidates, approving leave and evaluating performance

Other duties as assigned

Required qualifications
High school graduate or GED
Minimum of five (5) years successful experience in Purchasing, Pricing, Production and/or Inventory Control
Must be familiar with those business processes that are common to most Aviation Maintenance facilities
Must understand the concepts of business process documentation & improvement
Proven ability to work and communicate with management, technicians and customers in a business-like, professional manner
Must be able to prioritize competing demands and work within tight time constraints
Must possess the ability to remain positive and congenial in stressful situations
Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills
Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word


Desired qualifications
Experience with facility scheduling & forecasting manpower availability
Knowledge of Corridor and other common Aviation software products
Should be comfortable speaking to large groups​
